Beth Wiseman grew up in the tiny, rural town of Fairfield, Iowa. She was always writing and taking pictures, and she always wanted to be a writer. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and earned a master's degree in English literature. She taught English, creative writing, and journalism at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina before joining the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an assistant professor of English and Creative Writing
Her debut novel, The One-in-a-Million Boy, was published in May 2007 and was named one of Amazon.com's Best Books of the Month for June 2007. Her second novel, The Girl Who Owned a City (March 2008), was released to critical acclaim. She lives with her husband in Madison, Wisconsin.
